One of a kind centre in the UK

Amazon has recently completed work on its first Fulfillment Centre in the North West of England. The Centre is the 10th of its kind in the UK and has created over 1000 jobs. Kooltech were approached by the primary air conditioning contractor, Effective Air Solutions, to design a system to meet a strict set of requirements; notably the selection of low noise level equipment to suit the call centre function of the Centre, and compliance with EN378 regulations.

Kooltech Involvement: Kooltech worked closely with Effective Air Solutions to provide the selection of all Mitsubishi Electric Condensing Units and Branch Control (BC) Boxes to support the heating and cooling infrastructure of this new Amazon Fulfillment Centre. Kooltech also manufactured and provided the PFD stand for use with the close control units that were installed, to help cool the main server rooms within this building. Lossnay ventilation was included in this design as a cost effective alternative to Air Handling units. The Lossnay ventilation system was also selected due to a reduced footprint within the specification; they also provide greater heat recovery efficiency than an Air Handling unit. High efficiency filters were also provided to promote office wellbeing.

Kooltech supported the project on the initial design and throughout the installation. Kooltech also supplied all the installation materials for this project, therefore making it easier for Effective Air to co-ordinate. Due to restrictions on site Kooltech also offered a timed delivery service throughout the 4 week project.

Effective Air have chosen Kooltech for a number of years due to an excellent relationship they have built with project sales manager Simon Savin and Kooltech's Manchester branch.
